MESA TEMATICA Hacia la protección de la biodiversidad, recursos genéticos y conocimiento tradicional en América Latina: la aplicación del Protocolo de Nagoya

ROUNDTABLE – Universidad del Norte, Colombia

From 27 to 31 March 2017, at the Universidad del Norte of Barranquilla (Colombia), will take place a Roundtable about “Biodiversity safeguard, genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge in Latin America: implementing Nagoya Protocol”.
The mainly objective of the Roundtable, in striking collaboration with Latin America scholars and prof. John Alberto Tito-Añamuro, is implement international tools on Biodiversity, also concerning practical application between the European Union and Latin America. The Roundtable is based, also, on the experience European Union and, especially, on investigation results made in the frame of an EU project “Bioresources For Oliviculture_BeFOre” granted by EU Horizon-2020 MSC-RISE. The project aims at establishing a multi-lateral network of research and innovation staff active in germplasm access, conservation, evaluation, and exploitation, also taking into consideration the “Access and BenefitSharing” mechanism under the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture and the Convention on Biological Diversity and its Nagoya Protocol.
